Tips for running corporate events

Avoid tricky dates

Selecting a date can be the most difficult part of organising a corporate event. Make sure you do a quick google for big events and bank holidays before making suggestions to relevant attendees. Depending on the type of attendees you’re hoping for, it may be worth searching industry-specific events to avoid any clashes. Don't forget to think about summer holidays and those who need to arrange childcare.

Travel arrangements

Your event should be easy to get to whether your guests are driving or taking public transport. Have a look a the options locally and aim to provide your guests with instructions beforehand.

Always have a back-up plan

Outside space, such as our amazing terrace or soon to be rooftop bar, is always a crowd pleaser for group functions. There’s no need for our famously unpredictable weather to stop you from having your perfect venue. Speak to the staff and make sure you have a back-up plan in case the weather isn’t great, so either way you’ll be sure to impress.

Don't overcomplicate the catering

Most venues will offer in-house catering which takes the stress off managing another supplier. If it’s a small event make sure you request dietary requirements in advance and if you’ve decided to go for buffet style, ensure there’s plenty of choice for those with requirements. In our experience the British classics always tend to go down well.

Making it memorable

When you’ve put a huge amount of effort into arranging an event, you want your guests to remember it for the right reasons. Here are a few ideas you could try to make your corporate event stand out.

- Select a venue with backstory which can be incorporated into your event and can serve as a talking point.

- Begin with informal icebreakers (the kind that don’t make you cringe) to relax your guests into the event and bring the energy levels up.

- Plan for post-event team bonding. Once your corporate event finishes, you can expect some of your guests may want to relax and enjoy some refreshments. Prepare yourself with recommendations so you’re not caught off guard if guests should ask.

If you have a corporate event to arrange, why not take a look at our banqueting rooms which are great for big and small groups. Get in touch with our friendly team who will be happy to advise you.
